Additional Information
Sarah earned a B.S. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Georgia. While there she worked under Dr. Melinda Brindley conducting research on vesicular stomatitis virus budding in Vero cells with altered levels of phosphatidylserine on the plasma membrane. since joining Dr. Wei-Shau Hu's lab at the NIH, her research focuses on the mechanisms by which HIV-1 selectively packages its RNA genome using a variety of fluorescent microscopy techniques, including single-virion analysis and live-cell imaging.
Area of expertise:
1) Virology 2) Virus assembly 3) Fluorescent microscopy 4) HIV-1 RNA packaging
